DNAP Strengthens Yogyakarta-Melbourne Trade Ties with Dinas Koperasi UKM DIY

Yogyakarta - In July 2026, DNAP (Distribution Networks Asia Pacific) visited Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) to meet with the Dinas Koperasi dan UKM DIY, the provincial government body supporting Yogyakarta's cooperatives and small and medium enterprises. DNAP Managing Director Mohit Rai was joined by DNAP Director of Operations - Indonesia, Iwan Wibisono, for meetings hosted by Ibu Hellen Phornica and her team. The visit centred on a practical question: how trade between Yogyakarta and Melbourne can be strengthened for the benefit of local SMEs on both sides.

Mohit and Iwan spent time with the Dinas Koperasi dan UKM DIY team exploring where the opportunities already exist, where the gaps sit, and what a clearer pathway to the Australian market could look like for Yogyakarta's producers. The Dinas team shared product catalogues covering a wide range of DIY-made goods, giving DNAP a much clearer picture of what the region has to offer Australian consumers.

Inside the PLUT Gallery

The conversation continued at the PLUT Gallery — Yogyakarta's Pusat Layanan Usaha Terpadu showcase for locally made products, from packaged foods and snacks to handwoven baskets, leather goods and batik. Walking the gallery floor with Ibu Hellen and her team, Mohit and Iwan were able to see, taste and handle the kind of products that could realistically find their way onto Australian shelves, and to talk through, product by product, what would need to happen to get them there.

It's the kind of hands-on, product-level engagement that turns a general conversation about "trade opportunities" into something concrete — a specific snack brand, a specific weaving cooperative, a specific reason an Australian buyer might say yes.
